Haven wonders why Ashley broke up with such a charming and nice person, like Sumner Lee.
She remembers when her mother and father were together and truly loved each other. Haven thinks back to the "perfect summer' with Ashley's old boyfriend, Sumner Lee. Haven also feels herself growing farther apart from her mother, who is spending more and more time with a widowed neighbor named Lydia. Haven's father is getting remarried to Lorna Queen, a local station " weather pet", along with her sister, Ashley's wedding to "boring Lewis." Haven's best friend Casey seems to also be in a romantic mood while developing horrid habits that include smoking and a bad attitude. So, it is the summer of weddings and 15 year old Haven is fed up with her life and the decisions that people around her make.
